Naiiii-ro-bi
The travel plans made it out of the group chat—Hoorayyy.
I had such a beautiful trip to the Safari Capital of the World.
Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya—Uganda’s neighbour in the east—known for its blend of urban modernity and abundant nature.
With its vibrant culture, rich history, conservation efforts, bustling markets, diverse food scene, it served as the perfect girls gateway to end 2025.
With my friends and I, we travelled to this magnificent city to spend the New Year’s holiday.
From feeding giraffes to being served by robots and eating ugali, this city is truly a Silicon Savanna.
In this blog, I share our four-day journey highlighting the places that made this one of my best girl trips eveeerrrr.
Giraffe Centre

What a splendid way to experience nature in the city.
This place really did it for me.
At a fee of 400 KES (11,600 Ugx) for East African residents such as us, we had the pleasure of viewing giraffes and feeding them as well
Experiencing these graceful giants up close was such an amazing immersion into Kenya’s beauty.
Museum of Illusions

Any physics nerds in the building?!
This place is just right if you enjoy the magic physics has to offer.
At 1500 KES (43,500 UGX), it offers a fun, interactive “edutainment” experience with over 60 mind-bending exhibits, including holograms, vortex tunnels, and anti-gravity rooms, designed to trick the senses for all ages.
It was such an engaging, fun, and slightly confusing day out, offering photo ops and educational insights into perception.
Night Clubs in Nairobi

Alright, so there are night clubs peppered literally everywhere on Nairobi soil.
Each comes with its own vibe and themed nights, giving great variety to the Nairobi nightlife experience.
The experience across all the clubs—while fun— carried something interesting to take home with us.
It’s only in Nairobi clubs where certain beer bottles are sold strictly in twos.
And we only discovered this after receiving a table full of bottles we hadn’t asked for.
We learnt that this is typical in many clubs and is done for bottles with low alcohol content, to move them quickly.
Couldn’t help thinking it’s really about getting people drunk as fast as possible…
But hey, just thoughts—and shhhh don’t tell anyone I said that😌
Robot Cafe

Aye y’all—Kenya is ahead when it comes to robotics.
Robot Café is true evidence of this.
Being East Africa’s first robot café, it was quite fascinating to experience cutting-edge technology merged with restaurant service.
With a human waitress taking our orders, we then had the mesmerizing experience of receiving our meals from robot waiters.
And yes, it truly is a unique experience.
Village market & Ozone trampoline Park

Village market is an iconic, large shopping, leisure, and lifestyle mall in upscale Nairobi.
Known for its extensive stores, restaurants, hotels, activities, and green spaces, it offers a comprehensive entertainment and retail hub in a unique, village-like setting with natural landscaping.
It was one of Nairobi’s first modern malls, envisioned to blend modern amenities with natural elements—which felt homely for a nature lover like myself.
Village Market is also home to the Ozone trampoline Park, a large indoor adventure park and East Africa’s largest trampoline Park.
At a fee of 12,500 KES (36,250 UGX), we got a pair of socks and an hour of access to trampolines, wall climbing, dodgeball, slam dunk, and foam fights — my favorite activity.
In all honesty, this place was the perfect spot to engage our inner children in the most fun and unforgettable way.
It was delightful to see fellow 30-year-olds playing like we were 25 years younger.
Two Rivers Mall

Two Rivers Mall is a large, modern shopping and entertainment center in Nairobi.
At around 67,000 sqm, it is considered the biggest mall in Sub-saharan Africa outside of South Africa.
It features extensive retail, dining, and entertainment like Africa’s tallest Ferris Wheel, a theme park, and a dancing fountain, offering a mix of shopping, leisure, and services with riverfront views and integrated residences.
It truly feels exhilarating just being in its presence.
Kilimani

We stayed in Kilimani, a vibrant and rapidly developing urban neighborhood known for its modern high-rise apartments.
As cozy as that trip was, being residents of our Airbnb made it even warmer at the end of year — literally and figuratively.
Literally, because being in a storeyed building shaded from direct sun made it pretty chilly I tell you.
And figurately, because, have you met my friends?🤗
Beyond the chills, our place was really lovely and gave us an experience to remember.
Kilimani is a hub of diverse food scenes — from trendy spots to informal eateries.
And being situated on higher ground, it has great spots to catch the sunset.
It was beautiful to simply enjoy each other’s company—from sharing Kenyan Ugali and shenanigans to deep conversations at 3am and celebrating the birthday of one of us—real girl feels I tell you!
I wouldn’t hesitate to take this trip again with this lot.
Final thoughts

Nairobi surprised me in the best ways.
It’s a city that holds contrasts effortlessly — wild and modern, grounded and futuristic, playful and reflective.
From giraffes roaming just outside the city to robots serving meals, Nairobi reminded me that Africa is not one story, but many beautifully layered ones.
Beyond the places we visited, what truly made this trip special was the people I shared it with.
There’s something deeply healing about laughter, late-night conversations, shared meals, and being fully present with friends as one year closes and another begins.
This trip wasn’t just about ticking places off a list — it was about connection, joy, curiosity, and rest.
Nairobi gave us memories, lessons, and moments I’ll carry with me long after the trip ended.
Until next time, Naiiii-ro-bi 🤍✨.
